UK universities accept international students to study without IELTS but that depends on students’ previous qualifications. If you are an international student planning to study in the UK and IELTS is something you are concerned about. The university may be able to exempt you from the IELTS or Secured English Language Test (SELT) based on your academic qualifications.

The admission process is very rigorous to the British universities. IELTS or TOEFL is also a requirement as part of UKVI student visa admissibility in the UK. There are a number of ways students can get admitted without IELTS.

Previous Medium of Study Instruction was English

Many UK universities accept students who studied their undergraduate degree totally in English. English language was the only medium of study instructions during your full degree. More easily we can tell if you have completed your Bachelor degree from your home university where the degree assessment was in English rather than your local language e.g Arabic, Hindi or Bengali etc.

In order to accept you to the UK universities with medium of study instructions (MOI) you must present a letter from your school that the degree taught was in English.

Cambridge and Pearson qualifications at Secondary level students can apply without IELTS

If your high school curriculum was British GCSE/Advanced level you can be expected from the English language requirements. In your IGCSE or O levels exam you must have a minimum ‘C’ or equivalent in English language.

Take Internal Test and apply without IELTS to UK Universities

Many universities in the UK offer their in house internal English test as an alternative to IELTS/TOEFL. The university internal test is also accepted by the UKVI to maintain the language requirements for a UK student visa. For UK student visa you must prove your sponsor (University) provided evidence of English language test report. University conducted internal English tests are very similar to standard IELTS/TOEFL test. For a better understanding ask the university to provide a sample questionnaire.

University internal tests are mostly free however, many university may charge your for the test. You must ask the university before hand if their internal test is free of charge or costs associated. For any further assistance or information you can always contact us.
