Is London Branch Campus Universities Under Threat?

Recent Tier 4 licence suspension of 3 University and 57 FE colleges brought 14 London branch campus Universities in QAA’s watch list. UK’s quality assurance agency (QAA) announced an immediate inspection to the London branch campuses.

QAA Chief Executive Anthony McClaran said: ‘Partnership provision through London sites and campuses has grown significantly recently. We wish to understand better the trend of institutions from outside London setting up a presence in the capital and the implications for the assurance of quality and standards.

QAA also confirmed they had discussions with Home office about these London branch campuses and QAA will run an investigation to justify its quality of education and services they provide to the overseas students in branch campus. The intention is to find out the profitability of these site campuses whether its financial or educational.

Through the inquiry, QAA will examine the nature of these satellite campuses and partnership arrangements. It will explore how these partnerships are managed and, most importantly, assure the quality of the learning experience of students.

QAA Website

Now if you are a student of any of these university you don’t need to worry about it right now. The following university will go through a review by QAA

  • Anglia Ruskin University London Branch Campus
  • Bangor University London Center
  • Coventry University London campus
  • University of Cumbria London
  • University of East Anglia London
  • Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) London campus
  • Glyndwr University London
  • University of Liverpool London
  • Loughborough University London
  • Northumbria University London
  • University of Sunderland London Campus
  • University of Ulster London Campus
  • University of Wales Trinity Saint David (TSD) London
  • University of South Wales London Center

If you are a student of any of these university then keep calm yourself. Don’t panic it just what Home office wants to assure the quality and facilities they are providing to the international students. I’m pretty sure all university in London trying best to serve students. So many people spread many news such as this university closed, that university in the blacklist etc. But my advice would be please always check to UKVI’s website to see your university sponsor.

If you are here to come to study ACCA then you shouldn’t worry about work rights. Anyway as per rules University student gets 20 hours work permit no matter what course they are studying. Thanks.

    Hello admin
I am the student of Anglia Ruskin university (LCA) I had send my necessary documents for visa extension on middle of may and done biometrics 6 weeks ago. I haven’t received any decision yet. Is this the reason they are delaying my application?

      Hi Mahamood

Reason is not specified but nowadays it should take only 3/4 weeks to get a decision. Well under this situation no one can say anything except waiting for the result from UKVI. I would say please wait and wait.

      Thanks. Admin.

Hi I recently got admission in London school of marketing and have sent my documents for visa extension. I paid half my tuition fees and the rest is due today. After reading the recent news of the College being suspended I’m worried, if I’ll get my fees back in case the College is revoked? I’m asked to continue as normal and pay my fees, but I’m concerned about what will happen. Please can you advice. I’ll be very grateful.

    Dear Admin,

I have applied for my MBA at LCA and have got my offer letter. I also had my first interview and was informed that I will be having another interview with the Angila Rusking university staffs. However, there is no response received as of now regarding the interview and it is nearly one month now since I had my first interview. I believe it is due to the fact that college is under QAA review. Could you please let me know whether I will have to wait until they get back or apply to any other universities. Appreciate your valuable comments. Thank You.

It is going to be difficult for you to get CAS from another University but we would advise you to hear what your Uni says. Thanks.
