5 Things You Need To Know Before You Apply For Tier 2 Work Permit Visa

Tier 2 is a category where Non European apply for work permit visa in UK. Most importantly this is an alternative of Post Study Work (PSW) visa in UK. Tier 2 is very popular for the overseas (Tier 4 General) students in UK. Recent graduates can apply for any Tier 2 job without any Labour market test. You should always follow the following 5 steps to find a genuine Tier 2 registered sponsor.

Step 1  Search a Tier 2 Registered Sponsor

This is the most important stage. Being a Tier 4 General Student you must need a UKVI registered Tier 2 sponsor. The best way to find a sponsor is to go through the UKVI website. If you’ve been offered a job in a company but the company doesn’t hold a Tier 2 Sponsor licence then you won’t be able to apply for Tier 2 visa. Don’t ask where can I find a Tier 2 registered sponsor list. Click here to find a registered Tier 2 Sponsor list.

Step 2 Be a graduate

Tier 4 General Student must be graduate in order to qualify for this visa category. According to UKVI Tier 2 guidelines you have to have a degree (Bachelor or Masters) from UK University only. You also need to remember that the course you are studying should be full-time. Many of our reader (fans) asked on several occasions I’ve studied MBA (online) from UK university am I eligible for Tier 2? Based on the recent circumstances its not possible if you get qualification from UK university but it was a distance learning course. We’ve seen several refusals recently who’s studied online and the got a UK University qualifications. You must need to study full-time from a registered Tier 4 Sponsor.

Step 3 Full fill Job requirements

To secure the job and secure a Tier 2 visa you need to full fill all the requirements of immigration rules. Few key points you should have

  • Have a UK degree (Bachelor or Masters)
  • Minimum annual salary should be £20,800
  • Maintenance fund required £945 for 90 (3 months) consecutive days
  • Need a Confirmation of Sponsorship (COS)

Step 4 Read Tier 2 Policy guidance

This is extremely important that you read the Tier 2 policy guidance before you make an application. There are many important areas you need to focus and be accurate in terms of making application. Your application may be rejected if you don’t follow the guideline provided by UK Visa & Immigration.

Step 5 Be Aware of Fraud Jobs

This is just like Tier 4 Sponsor (college revoked/suspended) story. Selling CAS rather than selling education. There are many Tier 2 registered sponsor who’s illegally selling Tier 2 work permits. Usually there are plenty of applicants who would like to stay in UK for a lump sump £8000-£12000. But you shouldn’t do this as these type of company will lose sponsor licence eventually same like Tier 4 Sponsors (colleges). And when it does happen you need to find another Tier 2 registered sponsor within the 60 days time. So the storyline is pretty much same as it was for international students.

Two things you should remember you are losing huge amount of money and time with these type of bogus company. So never ever think about to go for a fake job. If you are smart and eligible find out your own job and try your best.

Sorry to hear that. The only thing you can do to find a new Tier 2 registered sponsor who’s able to sponsor you. Of course you should remember to find a genuine a company who can accept you without any financial benefits. Good luck.
